Islamabad (Web Desk): The 127th death anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, a towering figure in the realms of statesmanship, scholarship, philosophy, poetry, and education, was solemnly commemorated on Thursday.

Born in 1817 in Delhi, Sir Syed’s legacy as the architect of modern Muslim education in the subcontinent remains unmatched, and his life's work was dedicated to the intellectual and social upliftment of the Muslim community.

Renowned as the founder of the Aligarh Movement, Sir Syed’s vision not only laid the groundwork for educational reform but also played a pivotal role in the ideological and cultural foundations of the Pakistan Movement.

His groundbreaking initiatives shaped the destiny of millions. In 1864, he established a scientific society in Ghazipur, which sought to bridge the gap between the Western world and the subcontinent by translating critical texts into Urdu, making them accessible to the Muslim populace.

Sir Syed’s intellectual pursuits were further embodied in his publication Tahzib-ul-Akhlaq, a journal he launched in 1870, aimed at fostering a modern and enlightened mindset within the Muslim community.

It was this same spirit of reform that drove him to found Madrasat-ul-Uloom, an institution that would evolve into the Mohammedan Oriental College at Aligarh.

This college, which later transformed into the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University, became a cornerstone of educational development in the region.
