Jamaat-e-Islami's former deputy amir Professor Khurshid Ahmad passes away

Islamabad (Web Desk): Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad, former Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has passed away. He was 93 years old. His death occurred in Leicester, United Kingdom.

Professor Khurshid Ahmad was one of the close associates of the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Syed Abul A'la Maududi.

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan's Amir, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, and other leaders expressed deep sorrow over his demise.

A spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami stated that Professor Khurshid Ahmad's contributions would always be remembered.

Professor Khurshid Ahmad was honored with the highest award in 1990 by the Islamic Bank for his invaluable services in Islamic Economics. In the same year, the Saudi government awarded him the King Faisal Award for his international Islamic services.

In 1998, the American Finance House awarded him the Islamic Finance Excellence Award. Additionally, the Government of Pakistan recognized his services by awarding him the highest civilian honor, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, in 2010.
