Green Pakistan Initiative launched in Cholistan to modernise agriculture

Bahawalpur (Web Desk): The Green Pakistan Initiative has been launched in Cholistan, marking a transformative moment in the region's agricultural landscape.

Aimed at revolutionizing farming practices, the initiative brings together a range of services and facilities designed to support farmers in every aspect of their work.

As part of this effort, the Green Mall and Service Company was inaugurated, alongside a cutting-edge Smart Agri Farm and an Agricultural Research and Facility Centre.

The launching ceremony was attended by the key figures, including Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Musadik Malik.

Speaking at the event, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the launch of these projects represents a significant milestone in the journey toward improving the lives of Punjab’s farmers.

She stressed that the growth of the agricultural sector is intrinsically linked to the welfare of farmers and the overall prosperity of Pakistan.

In his speech, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir said Punjab has become Pakistan's agricultural powerhouse.

He said the leadership role of Punjab and its farmers in modern agriculture is commendable.

The COAS appreciated the efforts and successes made under the Punjab government's Green Corporate project in a short time, describing them as encouraging and a harbinger of progress.

He said the army will continue to fully support the country's economic development.

As per the new agriculture initiative, the new Green Agri Mall and Service Company will ensure that farmers can access high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides at discounted prices, delivered right to their doorsteps.

Additionally, they will have the option to rent modern agricultural machinery, including drones, at affordable rates.

The initiative also includes the creation of a 5,000-acre model farm, designed to showcase advanced farming techniques and efficient water usage practices.

The farm will focus on reducing operational costs and maximizing crop yields, while demonstrating the latest in irrigation technology.

This effort is part of a broader push to modernize agriculture in the region and enhance sustainability.

The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will serve as a hub for innovation and scientific development, offering facilities such as soil testing and collaborating with agricultural research institutions across the country.

This will help build a deeper knowledge base to address the challenges faced by the farming community.
