Pakistan, Azerbaijan sign MoUs to boost cooperation in multiple sectors

Baku (Web Desk/Agencies): Pakistan and Azerbaijan signed several agreements to strengthen their cooperation in areas like trade, energy, tourism, education, and more.

The documents of the agreement were exchanged during the official two-day visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was invited by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

 The exchange took place after the two leaders held bilateral discussions and talks with their respective delegations about enhancing collaboration in multiple fields.

One of the key agreements was an MoU between Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) and Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO). This was related to the Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba White Oil Pipeline Project.

In addition, SOCAR’s President Rovshan Najaf and FWO’s Director General Abdul Sami signed the documents.

Another important deal was an MoU between SOCAR and Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) along with PSO, which was also signed by Najaf and Zahid Mir, the Managing Director of PRL.

 Furthermore, an amendment to the Framework Agreement for the Sale and Purchase of LNG cargoes was signed, with SOCAR’s President Najaf and Masood Nabi, CEO of Pakistan LNG Limited, exchanging documents.

Additionally, an agreement between SOCAR Trading SA and PSO for the sale and purchase of petroleum products was finalized, with SOCAR’s Najaf and PSO’s CEO Syed Muhammad Taha exchanging the relevant documents.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov exchanged the documents of an MoU to promote cooperation between Lahore and Nakhchivan, a city in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

This agreement covers cultural, tourism, urban development, education, economy, and science and technology collaborations.
