Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday voiced his satisfaction over a historic milestone, as remittances from overseas Pakistanis surpassed $4 billion in a single month for the first time.
Expressing his gratitude, the prime minister said that the achievement reflected the strong confidence that Pakistanis living abroad have in the government’s direction and economic policies.
In a public statement, the premier acknowledged the efforts of the Pakistani diaspora, who sent a remarkable $4.1 billion in remittances during the month of March.
This surge has propelled the total remittance figure for the current fiscal year to an impressive $28 billion.
PM Shehbaz highlighted that this marks a 37.4% increase compared to the same period last year, a clear indication of growing financial engagement from overseas communities.
The prime minister noted that this record-breaking development was announced during the ongoing Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad, a timely and symbolic moment that, in his view, showcases the unwavering commitment and belief of expatriates in Pakistan’s future.
Calling them a valuable asset, the premier described the overseas Pakistanis as the pride of the nation, recognizing their hard work and dedication abroad as a major source of economic strength through their financial contributions.
PM Shehbaz reiterated his government’s dedication to ensuring that overseas Pakistanis receive the full support and services they deserve.
He affirmed that the country stands united in appreciation of those who continue to uplift Pakistan’s economy from afar, calling them not only hardworking individuals but also vital partners in the nation’s progress.
