Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and the damage to the property caused by the earthquake in China's Xizang region.

“My sympathies are with the government, the people of China, and the earthquake victims during this hour of grief,” the president said.
“We stand in solidarity with our Chinese brothers and sisters, sharing their sorrow in this difficult time,” he added.
President Zardari also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the earthquake.
In a post on his X handle, PM Shehbaz said that the entire Pakistani nation is deeply saddened by the tragedy. He said our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all those affected.
Earlier in a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of lives caused by the earthquake in Tibet.
“Pakistan extends its support to the people and government of China in their relief efforts,” the FO said, adding that our thoughts remain with the injured and those still missing.
Nearly 100 people were killed and several others injured after a powerful earthquake struck the mountainous region of China’s Tibet.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre, a magnitude 6.8, powerful earthquake recorded by Chinese authorities on Tuesday, rattled the northern Himalayan foothills in close proximity to Tibet’s holiest cities.
The tremor, which occurred at 9:05am local time (0105 GMT), had its epicenter in Tingri, a remote county that serves as the northern gateway to the Mount Everest region, situated at an elevation of around 4,000 to 5,000 meters.
This earthquake occurred at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), with the US Geological Survey reporting a slightly higher magnitude of 7.1.
Tremors were felt in neighbouring Nepal and parts of India as well.
