Anti-polio vaccination drive starts in KP, Balochistan

Peshawar (Staff Report): A three-day special anti-polio vaccination drive has been started in twenty-seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from today (Monday).

Polio teams have been deployed at bus stops, railway stations and other public places. More than four million children below the age of five years will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.

Meanwhile, anti-polio vaccination drive also kicked off in Quetta and Pishin districts of Balochistan.

During the three days of drive total 340383 children will be administered polio drops for which 1004 mobile teams, 117 fixed teams, and 23 transit teams have been established in the district.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan showed "serious concern" over the recent spike in polio cases in the country and directed federal and provincial government officials to undertake effective awareness and immunisation campaigns so that the disease can be kept in check.
