Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker and INL Country Director Line Nelson in Islamabad to discuss enhancing bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States (US).
During the conversation, Baker extended condolences for the recent deaths of police and Rangers personnel in Islamabad, acknowledging the loss.
The talks touched on various matters, including the strengthening of law enforcement cooperation and Pakistan’s preparations for hosting the ICC Champions Trophy.
Minister Naqvi outlined Pakistan’s plan to modernize its Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to function similarly to the FBI, with the US offering support for this transition.
Both sides also agreed on US assistance to modernize Pakistan’s National Forensic Agency to tackle emerging challenges. Naqvi emphasized the importance of upgrading the capacity of law enforcement agencies and providing civil armed forces with state-of-the-art tools to effectively combat terrorism and handle emergencies.
Baker reaffirmed the US commitment to supporting these efforts, acknowledging Pakistan’s determination to improve its law enforcement capabilities.
She also congratulated Naqvi on the successful completion of a police officers' passing-out parade, noting the significance of the achievement.
The meeting highlighted the enduring and robust partnership between Pakistan and the US, centered on shared security objectives and cooperation.
Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and Additional Interior Secretary Riffat Mukhtar Raja were also present at the gathering.
