Lahore (Web Desk): The 25th death anniversary of famous folk singer Pathanay Khan was observed on Sunday.
Born in 1926 in Basti Tambu Wali, a small village near Kot Addu, Pathanay Khan became a revered name in the world of Sufi music.
His voice, rich with emotion, brought to life the timeless poetry of Sufi mystics such as Baba Bullay Shah, Khwaja Ghulam Fareed, and Pir Mehar Ali Shah, among others.
Pathanay Khan’s music resonated with the spiritual and philosophical depth of the Sufi tradition, and his Kafi performances captured the hearts of audiences across Pakistan.
His unique ability to infuse traditional folk melodies with profound meaning made him a beloved figure, transcending generations and borders.
In recognition of his exceptional contribution to the musical heritage of the country, the government honored him with the prestigious Pride of Performance award in 1979.
Pathanay Khan died on this day in the year 2000 at his native town in Kot Addu at the age of 74.
