Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan takes oath as LHC chief justice 

Lahore (Web Desk): Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan took oath as Chief Justice Lahore High Court on Friday.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman administered oath to the new LHC CJ at the Governor House in Lahore.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan, Justice Aalia Neelum, Justice Shahid Karim, Justice Shahid Bilal, Justice Farooq Haider, Justice Shehbaz Rizvi, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Deputy Attorney General Rafaqat Dogar and senior counsels attended the ceremony.

Justice Shahzad has replaced Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti as the LHC chief justice after the latter retired on March 7.

Justice Shahzad will retire as CJ on March 15, 2025 after turning 62. 

Senior puisne Justice Shujaat Ali Khan will then assume the position of LHC Chief Justice upon CJ Khan’s retirement.

Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan was born on March 15, 1963, in Pindi Gheb, Attock. He graduated from Gordon College, Rawalpindi, followed by an LLB degree from University Law College, Punjab University, Lahore in 1989. Later, he started practicing law.

He became an advocate of the High Court in 1993 and the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2004, practicing as an advocate for 21 years and suing a large number of cases.

Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan was elected as the High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Secretary General in 2004 and High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi President in 2009. He became an Additional Judge in the Lahore High Court on May 12, 2011 and was confirmed on May 11, 2013.
