Lahore (Web Desk): The 57th death anniversary of playback singer Kauser Parveen was observed on Monday.
Born in 1933 in Patiala, Punjab, during the period of British India, her life was marked by both musical talent and the turmoil of partition.
After the division of India in 1947, Kausar migrated to Pakistan with her family, where she eventually carved out a place for herself in the growing film industry.
Her musical journey began in the early 1950s, with her first major break coming when she was introduced by the legendary producer Agha G.A. Gul.
She soon became a sought-after voice in the film industry, with her big break arriving when she collaborated with music composers like Master Inayat Hussain and G.A. Chishti for the film Gumnaam.
Her powerful, emotive voice captured the hearts of listeners and led her to perform a series of memorable songs that would define her legacy. Tracks like “O Maina Na Jane Kya Hogaya Kahan Dil Khogaya,” “Pal Pal Jhoomun Jhoom Ke Gaun,” and “Raaj Dularey, Meri Ankhiyon Ke Taray” remain cherished by music enthusiasts across generations.
Kausar Parveen’s career, though short, made an indelible impact on the cultural landscape of Pakistan.
Unfortunately, her promising life was tragically cut short when she passed away at just 34 years old on December 30, 1967, in Lahore.
Despite her early departure, Kausar's voice continues to echo in the hearts of fans, ensuring her place as one of the most beloved and influential playback singers of her time.
