Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 916,239 on Saturday after 2,455 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 315,410 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 338,377 in Punjab, 131,775 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 25,001 in Balochistan, 81,007 in Islamabad, 5,561 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 19,108 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As per National Command and Operation (NCOC) data, 55,442 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 4.42%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 20,680 with 73 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 836,702 after another 2,136 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, the NCOC has opened up walk-in coronavirus vaccinations for people aged 30 and above and teachers over 18 years old from today (Saturday).
The developments had been announced by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar and the NCOC on Twitter on Friday.
The minister had requested people who are 30 years or older to get registered and go to any vaccination centre to get a jab against COVID-19.
More than 5 million people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus infection in Pakistan so far, according to Asad Umar.
He encouraged the public to get themselves registered for vaccination at the earliest.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 168.599 million and death toll tops 3.507 million.
