PSL 10: Peshawar Zalmi beat Lahore Qalandars by 7 wickets

Lahore (Web Desk): In the 14th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, Peshawar Zalmi comfortably defeated Lahore Qalandars by 7 wickets. Zalmi skipper Babar Azam played a captain’s knock, scoring his first half-century of the season, while Hussain Talat also remained unbeaten with a crucial fifty.

Chasing a target of 130 runs set by Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi reached the target in the 17th over, losing just three wickets in the process.

Babar Azam remained not out on 56 runs, and Hussain Talat supported him well with an unbeaten 51.

Earlier in the day, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Zalmi won the toss and opted to bowl first. Lahore Qalandars had a poor start, losing half of their side within the powerplay. Fakhar Zaman (10), Sam Billings (9), Asif Ali (5), Daryl Mitchell (2), and Abdullah Shafique (0) were dismissed cheaply.

Amid the collapse, all-rounder Sikandar Raza emerged as a savior and scored a fighting half-century off just 30 balls. He stitched small partnerships with Shaheen Afridi (16), Rashid Hussain (13), and Haris Rauf (10) to help Lahore cross the 100-run mark.

A valuable 25-run stand for the 9th wicket between Sikandar Raza and Asif Afridi pushed Qalandars to a total of 129 before they were all out in the final over.

At the toss, Zalmi captain Babar Azam expressed the aim to utilize the powerplay effectively and adapt to the conditions. Lahore Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Afridi promised a good contest and looked forward to the crowd’s support as always.
