Caracas (Web Desk): President Nicolás Maduro has won Venezuela's presidency for the third time.
Maduro won 51% of the vote, compared to 44.02% of his main rival.
The Venezuelan opposition has dismissed the election result as fraudulent and announced to challenge it.
According to a report, several exit polls indicated a victory for the opposition in Venezuela.
On his victory, President Nicolás Maduro said that the re-election was a victory for peace and stability, “In 24 hours, we will provide irrefutable evidence of the electoral victory. It was a knockout,” Maduro claimed.
On the other hand, opposition leader Maria Corina said that Edmundo González was the newly elected president of Venezuela.
She claimed that opposition candidate Edmundo González won 70% of the votes.
However, the head of Venezuela's Electoral Council says the public should respect the results.
