Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Leaders of the opposition parties gathered at a multiparty conference in Islamabad on Wednesday to devise a strategy for launching a movement against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
The All Parties Conference (APC) was summoned upon the behest of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.
According to details, the opposition parties in their joint declaration rejected the policies of the PTI government and termed it as a 'huge security risk'.
The meeting declared that the PTI government is fulfilling the interests of foreign elements and it has become a huge security risk.
The APC declared that the governance of the PTI govt has become a threat to national integrity, sovereignty and interests.
The sources said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman suggested to observe July 25 as ‘Black Day’. He also recommended the opposition leaders to give collective resignations.
The PPP and PML-N did not support Fazl's recommendation to give resignation from the assemblies. Representatives from both the parties said that they can present their case better in parliament, the sources added.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation attended the session, under party leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) delegation including its chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari former prime minister Yousuf Raza, Senator Raza Rabbani along with other leaders also attended the meeting.
Delegations of Awami National Party (ANP), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), National Party and the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) also attended the conference.
Meanwhile, Baloch National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) is not attending the opposition parties gathering. According to reports, the government approached its coalition partner, after which BNP-M chief Akhtar Mengal decided to skip the APC.
