Islamabad (Web Desk): The Federal Interior Ministry has directed the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) authorities to submit a list of Afghan students enrolled in educational institutions within the province as part of an update to the national database for foreign nationals.
This instruction was issued through an official letter from the ministry’s security cell to the home secretary of K-P, requesting that the information be provided by March 27.
The move is part of a larger crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals, including those holding Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC), as Pakistan enters the final stages of its effort to extradite illegal residents.
Since the beginning of the repatriation campaign, over 876,000 Afghans have already left the country, and many more are expected to depart in the days leading up to the deadline.
The government has reassured that deportations will be carried out with dignity and respect, offering food and medical support to returning individuals.
Nonetheless, authorities have emphasized that individuals who do not leave by the deadline of March 31 will face strict legal consequences.
Despite the looming deadline, the K-P government has maintained that Afghan refugees in the province will not be forcibly expelled but instead be given the option to return voluntarily to Afghanistan, with all necessary assistance provided to facilitate their departure.
The federal government has set the March 31, 2025, deadline for all Afghan refugees, whether they hold proof-of-registration cards or are undocumented, to leave Pakistan and return to their home country.
