Beijing (Web Desk/Agencies): Aleksei Semenov, a professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Education, has urged BRICS countries to focus not only on technological advancements but also on sharing valuable educational experiences.
He noted that most artificial intelligence research is currently dominated by the United States, with some initiatives in Europe, while BRICS nations, including Russia, have lagged behind.
A key issue in AI development is data bias, particularly when training models primarily with data from English-speaking countries, which can result in biased outcomes. This problem is further exacerbated by the rapid spread of misleading information online.
To combat this issue, Semenov suggested that BRICS countries should take advantage of open resources and open-source technologies to develop AI models in their own languages. This would help reduce the bias that comes from depending solely on English-language data.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of strengthening local education systems within BRICS nations by sharing insights and experiences among educators, students, and communities.
Semenov pointed out that China has significant potential to lead in this area, fostering educational collaboration among BRICS countries.
