Islamabad (Web Desk): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the Superintendent of Adiala Jail regarding a contempt of court case involving Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), who has been denied access to his legal team while incarcerated.
During the hearing led by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Imran Khan's lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, informed the court that the former prime minister has been unable to meet with his lawyers, and that the jail authorities have restricted their ability to communicate with him.
The court inquired about the involvement of a local commission to address these issues. Advocate Faisal Fareed confirmed that there had been initial contact, but progress has stalled. The court emphasized that the commission was established to prevent such situations.
Raja also highlighted serious concerns regarding the conditions in the jail, mentioning extended power outages and limitations on Imran Khan's movement within the facility.
In response instructed Raja to file a separate application regarding the matter.
The jail superintendent has been ordered to appear in court for the next hearing, scheduled for Thursday.
