Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday took notice of the power breakdown in the country.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister Office (PMO), the premier has constituted a high level committee for investigation into the matter.
PM Shehbaz also also sought report from the Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir.
Expressing his annoyance, PM Shehbaz said it should be apprised as to why such a big crisis of electricity took place in the country.
He ordered swift measures to restore electricity, saying that inconvenience to the general public would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, Power Minister Khurram Dastgir on Monday said that the government was hoping to restore electricity in the country by 10pm.
Talking to a privat news channel, Khurram said that his ministry has started restoring some grid stations in Tarbela and Warsak.
"Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and some grids of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) have already been restored," the minister said.
About the breakdown in Karachi, the minister said that the matter in the port city is complicated as it has a complete electric supply system.
Later, Khurram Dastgir turned to his Twitter handle and wrote that the ministry was working on restoring electricity from north to south.

Pakistan on Monday morning suffered nationwide power outages due to a major breakdown of the national grid.
“According to initial reports, the system frequency of the national grid went down at 7:34am today (Monday), causing a widespread breakdown in the power system across Pakistan,” Ministry of Energy confirmed in a tweet.

Outages were reported in the southern port city of Karachi, the capital Islamabad, the eastern city of Lahore and Peshawar in the north.
