Obstacles to development of higher education should be removed: Prof. Dr. Chaudhry Abdul Rahman

Lahore (Web Desk): Chairman Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) Prof. Dr. Chaudhry Abdul Rahman on Friday said that the purpose of Excellence Award is to introduce the nation to real national heroes.

Addressing the Academic Excellence Award 2024 organised by APSUP, he said that the nations are recognized by their heroes and vice chancellors (VCs) are also our heroes.

The APSUS chairman said that the VCs dedicate their life for the promotion of education and due to their hard work, our universities left an indelible mark on the international landscape through their remarkable achievements in the Times Higher Education Rankings and QS Rankings.

Chairman APSUS added that the vice chancellors proudly uplifted the image of Pakistan in the field of education.

He said that the solution to economic problems is hidden in the education and training of the youth.

“We have to show the way to our directionless youth. They need to be trained in IT and healthcare,” he said adding that attention should also be paid to character building in these sectors.
Prof. Dr. Chaudhry Abdul Rahman said that without a knowledge economy, we cannot stand among the developed countries of the world.

“If the future is to be secured, the universities will have to focus on character building along with education. The government is requested to educate and train the youth,” he said, adding that every youngster is the future of Pakistan and our biggest treasure.

Education emergency should be declared in educational institutions, one window operation should be started and Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) should be freed from Higher Education Department (HED).

Prof. Dr. Chaudhry Abdul Rahman said that all obstacles to the development of higher education should be removed.

“We want to see Pakistan in the ranks of developed countries, the authorities must stop playing with the education system,” the APSUS chairman said.

The ceremony was graced by participation of highly esteemed guests from academia, government, higher education regulatory authorities and international delegates.
