Islamabad (Web Desk): The schools will resume classes for grade 6 to 8 from tomorrow (Wednesday), the government announced on Tuesday urging the school administration and parents to ensure implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad along with Speecial Assistantt to the Prime Minister Prime (SAPM) on Health Faisal Sultan, the Minister for Federal Education Shafqat Mehmood said that following the decision of the Federal government, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir have agreed to resume middle school classes from Wednesday.
However, Sindh government has decided a week's delay in implementing this decision and classes will not be opened in Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir, the Radio Pakistan reported.
“The decision has been taken after reviewing the countrywide health conditions and spread of Corona cases,” the minister said.
Shafqat Mahmood said said decisions regarding resumption of primary school classes will be taken after another review meeting to be held next week.
Speaking on the occasion, SAPM Dr Faisal Sultan urged the school administration and parents to ensure implementation of SOPs for Coronavirus.
On September 15, educational institutions across the country reopened after a six-month coronavirus break.
The government had decided to close school, colleges and universities in March in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. Sindh, however, had suspebded educational activities in the province on February 27 after detection of first COVID-19 case in Karachi.
On September 7, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood had announced that all educational institutions across the country would reopen in phases from Sept 15.
