Political instability to persist till new Army chief’s appointment: Rashid

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that there will be political instability will prevail in the country until the issue of the appointment of the new Chief of Army Staff is resolved.

“No stability in politics until the issue of new COAS’ appointment resolved,” Sheikh Rashid said in a tweet and added, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s statement that a new army chief would be appointed even without a summary has rung “alarm bells”.

“It is clear from the interior minister’s statement that all is not well and everyone is not on the same page,” the former minister claimed.

The nomination of a new Army chief is at the center of the country’s politics at the moment, and an official announcement is expected this week.
