Islamabad (Web Desk): A three-member judicial commission formed by the federal government to probe audio clips leaked on social media on Monday announced to make its all proceedings public.
The commission, headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq formed under Section 3 of the Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act 2017.
The commission which will have “all the power to fix responsibility against the delinquents for their alleged role behind phone tapping and could exercise authority to constitute special teams consisting of experts, or form an international team and seek international cooperation or exercise powers” under the Criminal Code of Procedure.
At the outset of today's proceedings, Justice Isa inquired: "Under which law the commission was formed?"
Attorney General Awan replied that the commission was constituted under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 2016.
The judicial commission then announced that it would make the proceedings public. However, it added that the commission could review any request for an in-camera session if any sensitive matter is brought to light.
