Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,522,191on Monday after 303 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 30,300 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 1.0%.
Overall 573,753 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 504,442 in Punjab, 218,689 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,458 in Balochistan, 134,963 in Islamabad, 11,666 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 43,220 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 30,331 with 2 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,476,120 after another 361 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, nearly three dozen companies worldwide will soon start making generic versions of Pfizer’s coronavirus pill, the UN-backed Medicines Patent Pool that negotiated the deal has said.
The Medicines Patent Pool said in a statement that agreements signed with 35 companies should help make Pfizer’s antiviral nirmatrelvir, or Paxlovoid, available to more than half of the world’s population, a foreign news agency reported.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 471,119 million and death toll tops 6,101,599.
