Tarin, who was the finance minister when he first came to Washington earlier this month, is now a financial adviser to the prime minister as he had to be a member of parliament to retain the minister’s position.
Earlier, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Reza Baqir said that Pakistan’s talks with the IMF are moving forward in a positive manner.
Baqir’s statement came shortly after IMF Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department Jihad Azour had said that talks between Pakistan and the IMF on the $6 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) are progressing in a “very good” manner.
