US State Dept spokesperson avoids comment on Imran Khan's imprisonment

Washington (Web Desk): US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce refrained from commenting on questions regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former premier Imran Khan, explaining that the US government does not involve itself in the internal affairs of other countries.

During a press briefing, when a journalist asked about the situation surrounding the PTI founder, Bruce responded, "I’m not going to comment on the internal frameworks of another country."

She went on to clarify that any inquiries related to President Donald Trump's stance should be directed to the White House.

The spokesperson also reiterated that both Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have consistently emphasized the United States' commitment to global issues and the welfare of its neighbours, saying, "The United States is focused on what is happening globally."

Bruce's decision to avoid discussing the matter echoed her previous response during a press briefing on March 6, when a similar question about possible US support for Imran Khan was raised.

This marks the second time in two weeks that Bruce has sidestepped questions related to Khan, highlighting the US's careful approach to avoiding direct involvement in Pakistan's political landscape.
