Islamabad (Web Desk): International Human Solidarity Day is being observed today (Friday) across the globe including Pakistan.
The day seeks to inspire unity, cooperation and shared responsibility in tackling global challenges such as poverty, inequality and social injustice.
This year, the theme of the day is, " Promote togetherness and collaboration."
On December 22, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) officially recognised International Human Solidarity Day following discussions at the 2005 World Summit. The day was established to emphasise that solidarity is essential for building international relations in the 21st century.
The UN also announced the creation of the World Solidarity Fund, aimed at providing direct support to eradicate poverty and promote human development.
As per the UN, celebrating this day symbolises the World body’s commitment to creating a culture of solidarity among nations and individuals worldwide, highlighting that unity is crucial in addressing the many challenges facing humanity.
