Lahore (Web Desk): The flood alert has been issued after India released up to 200,000 cusecs of water into the River Sutlej.
According to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 150,000 to 200,000 cusecs of water from the Indian state of Punjab is expected to spill into Ganda Singh Wala, a village in Pakistan near Kasur located at the border, during the next 12 to 24 hours.
India has also opened three out of five spillways of Ladakh Dam, which may lead to flooding in the nearby settlements, the NDMA added.
The administration of Kasur and other districts located at the bank of River Sutlej have been advised to initiate necessary measures to tackle any emergency.
Meanwhile, Indian forces continue ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
On August 18, two Pakistani civilians were martyred in “unprovoked” Indian firing along the LoC.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Indian Army "targeted civil population with mortars and Anti Tank Guided Missiles in Hot Spring Sector along LOC".
"Two elderly innocent civilians Lal Muhamamd S/O of Muhamamd Din, age 75 years and Hassan Din S/O Lal Din age 61 years, residents of Village Nagrai embraced shahdat," the military's media wing said.
In its retaliatory fire, the Pakistan Army reportedly killed two Indian Army soldiers and injured many others.
