Constitutional amendment draft 'unanimously' approved by parliamentary committee

Islamabad (Web Desk): In a significant development, a special parliamentary committee on Friday unanimously approved the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment.

The committee, chaired by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Syed Khursheed Shah and comprising members from both the government and opposition, discuss the proposed judicial package.

Speaking to newsmen following the meeting, he confirmed that the draft will be presented for approval at the upcoming federal cabinet meeting.

"The draft has been approved unanimously," he stated. The PPP leader also highlighted that the committee reached a consensus on allowing overseas Pakistanis to participate in elections.

This move marks a notable step forward in the legislative process, as it seeks to address key issues within the judicial framework while the committee agreed to enhance the political engagement of overseas Pakistanis on allowing them to contest the elections.
