Govt committed to achieve $5 billion bilateral trade target with Turkiye: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that Pakistan and Turkiye are two brotherly nations and they are committed to take the bilateral trade volume to $5 billion mark.

Addressing a meeting of the federal cabinet, he acknowledged the unwavering support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, especially his advocacy for Palestine and Kashmir at international forums.

PM Shehbaz mentioned that President Erdogan's visit had led to the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), which would strengthen the two nations’ ties even further.

He said that the completion of a flyover in Islamabad, just 84 days, had been named after President Erdogan in a symbolic gesture of goodwill and affection from the people of Pakistan.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the results of a recent Gallup survey, which revealed that 55% of the public had expressed confidence in the government’s policies aimed at promoting business.

Despite the positive feedback, he emphasized the need to push forward with even greater determination to fulfill the government's economic agenda, including the critical “Uraan Pakistan” initiative.

The premier also touched on his recent discussions with a delegation of World Bank directors, who had expressed full support for the government’s reform initiatives and the stability of the country’s macroeconomics.

Their endorsement was a testament to the collective effort of his cabinet, he noted.

PM Shehbaz further stressed the importance of economic growth for national peace, recognizing that a prosperous economy would move the wheel of progress rapidly.

To ensure this, the premier underscored the need for a conducive environment to foster stability.

PM Shehbaz also paid tribute to the security forces whose officers and personnel were sacrificing their lives for the protection of the country.
