Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Thursday said at least 22 educational institutes across the country have been shut down in the last 48 hours for not complying with government-issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for curbing the spread of Covid-19.
“During the last 48 hours, 22 educational institutions across Pakistan have been closed due to non-compliance of health SOPs/protocols and disease prevalence,” the NCOC said in a statement.
About 16 of these educational institutions were in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one in Islamabad and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, it read.
Educational institutions across the country reopened on Monday after a six-month coronavirus break.
The government had decided to close school, colleges and universities in March in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. Sindh, however, had suspebded educational activities in the province on February 27 after detection of first COVID-19 case in Karachi.
On September 7, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood had announced that all educational institutions across the country would reopen in phases from Sept 15.
