Judicial complex attack: Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar and Farrukh Habib declared absconders

Islamabad (Web Desk): An anti-terrorism (ATC) court in Islamabad has declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar and former party leader Farrukh Habib as absconders in a case connection with the Judicial Complex attack due to their repeated absences from court hearings.

The court, presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, also issued arrest warrants for other individuals linked to the case, including Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and Raja Basharat and other individuals who were absent during the proceeding.

After addressing the charges against the individuals present, the court decided to postpone the hearings in the case until April 7.

The legal proceedings stem from a violent incident during a court appearance by former premier Imran Khan at the Judicial Complex Islamabad, where he sought bail on several charges.

A large crowd of PTI supporters gathered outside, removing security barriers and damaging the complex’s gates, which disrupted the court's proceedings.

In response, police filed terrorism charges under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and Section 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code for obstructing public officials in the performance of their duties.

Authorities claim that the attack was planned in advance, with political figures allegedly encouraging the mob’s actions.

During the arrests, the law enforcers recovered weapons, including a Kalashnikov, from some of those detained, and several raids were conducted across various areas of the country to apprehend more suspects.
