Lahore (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, urged the courts to accelerate the legal proceedings surrounding the violent incidents of May 9, 2023.
Addressing a news conference in Lahore, the minister presented what he described as conclusive evidence implicating senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in the attacks on key national installations and monuments dedicated to the country's martyrs.
Tarar displayed video evidence, including CCTV footage from various cities such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, which he claimed directly linked PTI members to the violent acts.
He emphasized the undeniable nature of this evidence, stating, "The proof is clear, and it is now for the courts to ensure swift justice."
The information minister accused PTI leaders of being part of a well-organised conspiracy, claiming they had received specific instructions to target critical national sites.
He dismissed their previous calls for proof, asserting, "The evidence is now before the public; there can be no more denials."
Tarar also criticized PTI founder Imran Khan and his associates for what he described as attempts to undermine Pakistan's national security and identity, while consistently refusing to take responsibility for their actions.
He questioned whether they would apologise to the nation and accept accountability for their actions.
Referring to PTI as the "Tehreek-e-Inteshar" or Movement for Chaos, the minister accused the party of inciting disorder to further its political ambitions.
"Their actions are in line with the narratives of our enemies, and they have tried to destabilize national security for their own gain," he stated.
Tarar assured the public that all evidence, including the critical CCTV footage, had been securely preserved and would not be tampered with.
He called for an urgent resolution of the ongoing cases, stressing that a timely verdict would set a precedent and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The information minister urged the PTI's leadership to stop calling for foreign intervention in Pakistan's internal matters and instead offer an apology to the people of the country.
He reiterated that justice must prevail to restore peace and prevent future chaos.
