Pakistan approves AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has approved the Oxford University-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in country.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Healh Dr Faisal Sultan on Saturday confirmed that the DRAP had granted emergency use of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine across the country.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 516,770 on Saturday after 2, 432 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 233,396 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 148,488 in Punjab, 62,996 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,537 in Balochistan, 39,888 in Islamabad, 4,882 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 8,583 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 10,908 with 45 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 472,099 after another 2,793 virus recoveries were reported.
