Lahore (Staff Report): Technical experts and foreign office officials of Pakistan and India met on Tuesday to discuss Kartarpur corridor project.
According to sources, the installation of a border fence and road design came under discussion.
On April 16, Pakistan accepted India’s proposal for a meeting of technical experts from both sides on the Kartarpur Corridor.
The development comes days after New Delhi postponed a meeting scheduled on April 2 on the Pakistani.
Last month, technical experts of Pakistan and India discussed the plan for the Kartarpur corridor project.
On March 14, Pakistan and Indian delegations met in Attari.
Kartarpur corridor will go a long way in facilitating the Sikh community of both the countries to visit their holy shrines without visa formalities.
Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone of four kilometres-long Kartarpur Corridor in district Narowal in November 2018.
The project connects two Sikh holy sites, Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan and Dera Baba Nanak in India.
Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan's Punjab province holds religious significance for the Sikh community. It is where Baba Guru Nanak settled down after his travels as a missionary. He lived there for 18 years until his death in 1539.
