Islamabad (Web Desk): Namaz-e-Istisqa (prayers for rain) was offered across the country to pray to Allah Almighty for His mercy in the form of rain.
In the federal capital, the main congregation of Namaz-e-Istisqa was held at the Faisal Mosque.
A large number of citizens participated in the special prayers after Friday prayers.
They prayed to Allah Almighty to end the dry spell and alleviate the health hazards caused by smog.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appealed to the nation to perform Namaz-e-Istisqa.
In a statement issued by the PM Office Press Wing, the premier said that the federal and provincial governments should arrange Namaz-e-Istisqa in the mosques across the country.
He especially urged the scholars and religious leaders to play their role in organizing Namaz-e-Istisqa.
PM Shehbaz emphasized that rainfall will improve the environment and can significantly help in mitigating the diseases.
The prime minister stressed that in the current situation, there is an urgent need for Baran-e-Rehmat (rain).
He had called for seeking special prayers from Allah Almighty so that the human life may be relieved from the hardships.
