Islamabad (Web Desk): The accountability court in Islamabad on Monday extended physical remand of former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari by 14 days in Park Lane case.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced Zardari before accountability court amid tight security after his physical remand expired today.
During the hearing, the anti-corruption watchdog requested another extension in the physical remand of the former president.
The NAB prosecutor told the court that more time was needed to investigate the case. The court accepted the request and granted the physical remand of Zardari till July 29.
According to the anti-corruption watchdog sources, Asif Zardari allegedly purchased 2,460 kanal land in Islamabad through the park lane company. The property which was purchased in Rs620 million is worth Rs2 billion, they claimed.
Asif Ali Zardari, who is already under the NAB custody, had withdrawn his bail applications from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Park Lane Company, bulletproof cars, and Toshakhana cases.
The PPP co chairman was arrested by NAB from Islamabad on June 10 after the IHC rejected his interim bail in the fake bank accounts case.
