Islamabad (Web Desk): On January 15, the literary world commemorates the 29th anniversary of the martyrdom of Mohsin Naqvi, one of the most celebrated poets and scholars in Urdu literature.

Born as Ghulam Abbas on May 5, 1947, in the serene town of Dera Ghazi Khan, he later adopted the name Ghulam Abbas Mohsin Naqvi, under which he carved his indelible mark in the world of letters.

Naqvi, a luminary in the realm of ghazals, imbued his verses with a rare blend of sorrow and transcendence, inviting readers to journey through the labyrinth of love, despair, and metaphysical longing.

His literary treasures, including Azaab-e-Deed, Khaima-e-Jaan, Berg-e-Sehra, Talu-e-ashk and Rida-e-Khwab continue to echo the voices of a soul deeply attuned to the fragile nature of existence.

Beyond his poetic prowess, Mohsin Naqvi’s artistic vision also extended to cinema, where his works enriched the cultural fabric of Urdu film.

His untimely demise, at the hands of unknown assailants in Lahore on this fateful day in 1996, left a void that can never be filled.

Even in death, Naqvi remains a beacon for those who seek to capture the intricacies of the human spirit in verse.

His contributions to Urdu literature are immortal, ensuring that his words will continue to inspire generations of poets and thinkers for years to come.
