Kashmiris observe India's Independence Day as 'Black Day'

Islamabad (Web Desk): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and world over are observing India’s Independence Day, today, as Black Day.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the day is being marked by a complete shutdown across Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), to convey a message to the international community that New Delhi’s has no right to celebrate the day in the valley.

The Kashmir valley is wearing a deserted look due to the strike as people have hoisted black flags on their roofs, street poles and trees.

On the other hand, India-installed authority has converted the entire Kashmir Valley into a military garrison as checkpoints and barricades have been erected at all main points and squares.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders, currently jailed in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, have urged Kashmiris to send a strong message to India that they reject its occupation and demand their fundamental right to self-determination.

In their statements, they have appealed the international community to pressure India to grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

The leaders reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to take ongoing plebiscite demand to its logical conclusion.

In Brussels, a protest demonstration will be held in front of the Indian Embassy to mark India’s Independence Day as Black Day.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, anti-India protest rallies, public gatherings and protest demonstrations are being held in all districts and towns.

In Muzaffarabad, a protest rally was taken out by Pasban-e-Hurriyat in front of the central press club.

The participants of the rally waived black flags on the Indian Independence Day.

They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against Indian illegal occupation.

The speakers, including chairman of the Pasban e Hurriyet Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, vowed to continue moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris in their just right to self-determination.

They appealed to the United Nations (UN), world bodies and international community to come forward and stop India from committing war crimes in IIOJK.
