Sindh unveils Budget 2024-25 with Rs3.056 trillion outlay


Karachi (Web Desk): Sindh budget for financial year (FY) 2024-25 with total outlay of Rs3.056 trillion was presented in the provincial assembly in Karachi on Friday.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of finance, presented the budget in Sindh Assembly.

While presenting budgetary proposals in the house, the Sindh CM said that Rs 959 billion has been proposed for Annual Development Programme (ADP) while 22% to 30% increase has been made in the salaries of government employees and 15% increase in the pension.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Rs519 billion have been allocated for education, Rs334 billion for health while Rs329 billion have been earmarked for local governments.

Similarly, Rs58 billion have been allocated for the agriculture sector, Rs77 billion for the energy sector, Rs94 billion for the irrigation sector and Rs86 billion for works and services departments.

The Sindh CM said that Rs56 billion have been allocated for transport, Rs153 billion for Services General Administration and Rs194 billion for Home Department.

He said minimum wages has been increased from Rs30,000 to Rs37,000.

Murad Ali Shah said that special initiative has also been taken for the employees from scale 1 to 6 under which a personal pay would be introduced to bridge the difference.

He said that budget also includes Rs116 billion allocation for subsidies to ease the financial burden on citizens.

The Sindh CM said that Rs25 billion will be provided for housing schemes.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Rs5 billion have also been earmarked for a Hub Canal Project that would provide water to Karachi.

Earlier today, the Sindh Cabinet accorded approval of over Rs3 trillion budget proposals for financial year 2024-25.

The meeting was presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The meeting discussed the proposals of increase in salaries and pension.

Addressing the meeting, the Sindh CM said poverty alleviation and facilitating the people have been focused in the budget.
