Sindh budget for FY 2024-25 to be presented today

Karachi (Web Desk): Sindh budget for financial year (FY) 2024-25 with an outlay of more than 3 trillion will be presented in the provincial assembly in Karachi today.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah who also holds the portfolio of finance will present the budget in Sindh Assembly.

As pre the budget proposals, Rs473 billion have been allocated to complete 4,644 development projects during the next financial year. 
Rs 9,64 billion will be spent on development projects while it has been proposed to allocate Rs1,900 billion on non-development expenditure. Rs1 billion and 80 million have been allocated for 11 mega projects of Karachi.
An amount of Rs728 billion has been proposed for the salaries of the employees, while 5000 new posts will be created.

It has also been proposed to increase the salaries of government employees by 15% and provision of other financial incentives.

As per the proposals, the development budget of all districts will be Rs30 billion.
Rs76 billion has been allocated from the annual development program of the federal government and 300 billion rupees have been allocated for ongoing development projects.

Meanwhile, Rs92 billion have been allocated for unapproved development projects while Rs80 billion for the revised amount after rate increase.

Moreover, Rs16 billion has been allocated for new jobs, furniture, oil, travel expenses, while it has been proposed to approve 5 thousand new jobs, Rs19 have been allocated for non-developmental expenses, Rs400 billion for education, and Rs275 billion has been allocated for health.

In the next budget, Rs155 billion have been allocated for local government, Rs170 for maintenance of law and order, Rs550 billion for the provincial and district development programme and Rs10 billion has been allocated for the infrastructure of flood-affected areas.
