Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): Punjab government on Monday presented the budget for fiscal year 2021-22 with a total outlay of Rs2.653 trillion.
Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht presented the budget for in the Punjab Assembly amid ruckus by the opposition lawmakers.
Salient features of the budget:
10 percent raise for government employees’ salaries and pension
Rs189 billion allocated for South Punjab
Rs560 billion for development
Rs442 billion for education
Rs400 billion revenue target
Rs370 billion for health
Rs31 billion for agriculture transformation
Rs9 billion for water, sanitation
This was the maiden budget session held in the newly-constructed building of the Punjab Assembly.
Earlier, the Punjab cabinet approved the budget proposals.
