Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar on Saturday said that President Asif Ali Zardari's objections to the seminary registration bill the seminaries’ registration bill are completely “constitutional and legal”.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), he pointed out that the President’s objections had no relation to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and any claims connecting the two were purely speculative.
He further emphasized that the matter had been unnecessarily politicized, with some attempting to link the bill to FATF compliance.
“The Constitution lays out a clear procedure for legislation, and the President’s objections were made in accordance with this framework,” Tarar said, adding that Parliament would address the objections in a similarly constitutional manner.
He also cautioned against baseless criticism and urged the public to focus on the constitutional process rather than engage in unnecessary speculation.
The information minister suggested that the aim of such controversies was to undermine the powers of both the President and Parliament.
