Islamabad (Web Desk): An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 was recorded in Islamabad and several areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
The tremors were strongly felt across Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Malakand, Buner, and Islamabad, as well as in the Mohmand, Charsadda, and Attock districts.
National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the earthquake's epicentre was located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, at a depth of 220 kilometers.
Despite the strong shaking, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The tremors caused widespread panic, prompting residents to quickly evacuate their homes and workplaces, many seeking safety while reciting prayers.
Given the region’s history of seismic activity, experts have advised people to remain alert and follow safety protocols to reduce risks in the event of further aftershocks.
