Islamabad (Web Desk): International Youth Day was celebrated on Saturday, across the globe, including Pakistan to highlight the role of youth as essential partners in change, and to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing them.
This year's theme of the day is, "Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World".
In his message on International Youth Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the youth development is guarantee of the development of Pakistan.
"The youth are our future and they are the architects of our country," the premier tweeted.
PM Shehbaz said that international quality educational facilities, professional training in line with global requirements, countless scholarships, endowment funds, sports facilities, laptops and easy loans for the youth were provided over the last 15 months.
The prime minister said that God Almighty has blessed Pakistan with innumerable natural resources.
He said the youth is our greatest strength. He said unfortunately, in the past, no special attention was paid to the development of the youth, but by the grace of Allah, when the people entrusted him with the responsibility of their service with their trust, he spent all his energies towards this end.
In his message on the occasion, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed the Pakistani youth as the guarantee of a better future for the country
"Now no power can stop Pakistan from progressing as the youth are determined to face every challenge and lead in every field," he said.
Bilawal said we are confident that for the development of a prosperous, strong, and progressive Pakistan, our young generation has the potential to lead in the field and on the front.
“Pakistan is a fortunate country that more than 63 percent of its population is in the age group of 15 to 33 years. Hence, Pakistan’s greatest asset is our youth,” he pointed out.
Earlier on the eve of International Youth Day, an event titled "Youth for Climate Action: Young Voices, Bold Solutions", was held in Islamabad, the Radio Pakistan reported.
It was organised by the Pakistan-German Climate and Energy Partnership in collaboration with Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.
The aim of holding the event was to harness the energy and creativity of young individuals towards addressing the pressing challenges posed by climate change.
The event featured a series of engaging activities and thought-provoking discussions for young participants to learn from, so they can become effective advocates for climate action.
