Islamabad (Web Desk): The federal government has decided to further lower the age limit for COVID-19 vaccination between 15 and 18.
According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) on Saturday said that the vaccination of the aforementioned age bracket would commence from September 13.
“The citizens between the ages of 15 and 18 will be vaccinated for free with the Pfizer vaccine,” the NCOC said.
As per the NCOC, the Pfizer vaccine will be available at all central vaccination centres.
The federal government had earlier disclosed its plan to begin COVID vaccination for people aged below 18 in the country.
The NCOC also said mobile vaccination teams will visit schools and colleges.
Earlier today, the NCOC announced that those awaiting their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine may visit a vaccination centre on any day of the week.
“The citizens do not have to wait for a message from the authority to proceed with a second dose, the forum said.
Last week, the NCOC announced that partially vaccinated individuals could get their scheduled second jabs without waiting for the SMS message.
On the other hand, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,201,367 on Saturday after 3,480 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
As per the NCOC data, 63,181 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 5.50%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 26,662 with 82 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,082,988 after another 3,121 virus recoveries were reported.
