Karachi (Web Desk): Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday presented a budget of Rs2.2 trillion for the fiscal year 2023-24.
Announcing the budget, he said the total revenue receipts have been estimated at Rs2.209 trillion which shows the deficit of Rs37.795 billion.
The Sindh CM said that Rs267.5 billion have been earmarked for school education while 228 billion rupees for health and Rs143 billion have been set aside for law and order.
Moreover, the local government budget will amount to Rs112 billion while Rs136 billion are earmarked for capital expenditure due to interest payments.
He further said that the agriculture sector has been given the allocation of Rs18.9 billion while Rs25.703 billion have been earmarked for irrigation sector.
Earlier in the day, the Sindh Cabinet approved Rs2,24 trillion budget for the next financial year 2023-24 in its pre-budget meeting here at the Chief Minister House.
Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah discussed a five-year performance of the provincial government.
The Sindh Cabinet meeting was attended by the provincial ministers of Sindh, advisors, special assistants, Sindh Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, CM’s personal secretary and others officers concerned.
CM Murad Ali Shah said that it was the last pre-budget meeting of the five years tenure performance of the provincial government.
He said that the other meetings of the Provincial Cabinet would continue as usual.
The chief minister said that their Cabinet performed well under the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardri.
He said that the local bodies elections were the manifestation of their success.
