Islamabad (Web Desk): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the United States, Russia and Turkiye on Saturday condemned the suicide attack at Quetta Railway Station and extend their condolences to Pakistan.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned Saturday’s “heinous” terrorist attack in Quetta and called for the perpetrators to be held accountable.
“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in the city of Quetta that took place earlier today,” his Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said in a statement e-mailed to Pakistan’s State news agency APP.
“The Secretary-General sends his condolences to the families of those killed, as well as to the people and Government of Pakistan.
He wishes a speedy recovery to all those injured,” the statement said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed Moscow's commitment to close cooperation with Islamabad in combatting extremism and protecting citizens from violent acts.
In a letter, Russian President Vladimir Putin has conveyed his condolences to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following a devastating terrorist attack at the Quetta Railway Station.
He underscored Russia’s determination with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.
US Mission to Pakistan, in a social media post on X, also condemned the attack and extended deepest condolences to victims and their families. It said the United States will continue to stand with Pakistan in preventing such acts of terrorism against civilians and soldiers.
Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim conveyed his heartfelt condolence and sympathies over the incident.
Foreign Ministry of Turkiye, in a statement, also condemned the terrorist attack in strongest words.
Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam on Saturday condemned the terrorist attack at a railway station in Quetta leading to the loss of multiple lives, including both civilians and security personnel.
In a statement, Ambassador Moghadam expressed his strong condemnation, describing the incident as a ‘hideous terrorist attack’ that targeted ‘innocent and defenseless civilians.’
He stressed that terrorism poses a shared threat across the region, underscoring the need for ‘mutual, regional, and collective cooperation’ to counter this menace.
The ambassador extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Pakistan, particularly to the families of the victims.
“May Allah Almighty bless the souls of the deceased,” Ambassador Amiri added, offering his sympathy during this tragic time.
