Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab Health Department confirmed on Saturday that 126 fresh cases of dengue fever have been reported across the province. Rawalpindi continues to bear the brunt of the outbreak, accounting for 104 of the new infections.
Other cities that reported cases include Lahore 8, Faisalabad 2, and Chakwal, Attock, and Sargodha, each with 3 cases.
Single cases were also recorded in Mandi Bahauddin, Sahiwal, and Gujranwala.
With 737 new dengue cases reported in just this week, the total number of infections in Punjab for 2024 has now reached 6,759.
The health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to take all necessary precautions to limit the spread of the disease.
In response to the growing number of cases, the Health Department assured the public that hospitals across the province are well-prepared to handle the increasing influx of patients.
Medical facilities are adequately stocked with essential medications, and healthcare workers are on high alert to provide treatment to those affected.
To further assist the public, the Health Department has launched a dedicated helpline 1033 for individuals seeking guidance or wishing to report dengue-related concerns.
The department is also intensifying efforts to raise awareness and prevent mosquito breeding in affected areas.
Health officials continue to emphasize the importance of preventive measures, such as eliminating stagnant water sources, using insect repellents, and wearing protective clothing, particularly in areas with a high number of cases.
As dengue fever remains a serious public health concern in the region, the Health Department is calling on the public to stay vigilant and cooperate in efforts to contain the outbreak.
