Geneva (Web Desk): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday said that the world community pledged generous support of $10 billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood-hit areas.
The announcements waere made at the At the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan in Geneva.
Earlier, Sharing detail of the contributions announced by friendly countries and international institutions, the minister tweeted that the first plenary of day-long Geneva conference culminated in generous outpouring of global community.
She said the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) pledged $4.2 billion, World Bank (wb) $2 billion, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) $1.5 billion, the European Union (EU) $93 million, Germany $88 million, China $100 million, Japan $77 million, USAID $100 million, and France $345 million dollars.

As the second plenary of the climate conference began, the minister said development partners were exploring collaborative ways to build back better.
She added that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) had pledged $1bn.

In a separate tweet, the minister wrote that that Saudi Arabia had pledged $1bn for Pakistan’s efforts to rebuild.

The International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan, co-hosted by the Government of Pakistan and the United Nations in Geneva, Monday called for securing global support and forging long-term partnerships to help the country cope with the challenges of devastating floods of 2022.
The conference brought together governments, leaders from the public and private sectors and civil society to support the people and the government of Pakistan to deal with the enormous challenge of post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation.
